Zone Raiders is a futuristic hovercar racing combat game set in a 3D environment. The protagonist is a freelance Raider who ventures into the dangerous Free Zone, where rare and expensive items can be scavenged. Getting those items, however, won't be easy: other raiders are headed towards the Zone with the same intention, and the hero must race them, using all means to get there first.

The futuristic cars resemble those that were used in the 20th century, with an important difference: they are equipped with hover plates and heavy weaponry. The protagonist should search for new weapons, shield regenerators and jet packs, as he races and sabotages his opponents’ cars. The game features sixteen different tracks, five selectable hovercars (one of them hidden), and eight usable weapons.

Multiplayer support included for up to eight players. Zone Raiders is the racing game for players with an Appetite For Destruction! You know where you are? You’re in the Jungle baby! Wake up! It’s time to DIE!

This game is unique in its composition. It's so unique that, before it was re-released here, I had no hope of getting it to run properly in its complete form. Without an original disk and temporally localized hardware, this work of art was lost in time. I was shocked and ecstatic to eventually find it here, and that's why I've become a client of this distribution platform. I'd previously never heard of ZOOM. It would be very cool if ZOOM included a disk image for retro hardware enthusiasts who want to run Zone Raiders natively. For those like me, who have no skill in such hobbies, this is perfect. One can sink a lot of time into a single level, so I recommend that anyone frustrated with time management try implementing an alternate DOSbox (svn-daum) which provides save-state function. This has worked out beautifully for me, and I'm very grateful for the work that was done to make an awesome and underrated game more than playable. I'd also like to add that, like most of the games I own, I haven't finished this one. I guess that makes this review incomplete.
